Unit 3- Southeast Asia- Geography, History, Government, & Econ
5/13 - 5/17: Students will be completing a "Passport Project" on information about Japan, North & South Korea, India, and Vietnam. They will have a mixture of readings, power points, and articles to read through and answer questions for each country. They also had to choose a country from South East Asia and create a travel brochure. Both of these activities are due Friday 5/17. No later!

Unit 2- Africa- Government
4/15 - 4/19: Students will be reading and answering questions about access to education in Africa, and how the weak government hinders this. They will then be completing 3 activities from their choice board which will count as a test grade. This will be due Friday.
4/8 - 4/12: We will begin our unit on government this week. Students will be learning about the types of government in Kenya and S. Africa, the split of South Sudan from Sudan, AIDS and famine in Africa, and access to education. Instead of completing a test on government, students will be working on 3 activities on a choice board.
Unit 2- Africa- History
3/25- 3/29: This week we will be learning about African countries struggle to become independent from European control. We will also learn about The Apartheid and Nelson Mandela. Students will be completing either a webquest (Use the following website for the Nelson Mandela & Apartheid Webquest.) or an instragram profile on Nelson Mandel & the Apartheid. Drawing pictures of specific important events that occurred. The history quiz will be on Thursday! Use the following quizlet to study!
3/18- 3/22: Monday students will be studying for their TEST TOMORROW! Use the Quizziz Link & Quizlet Link to study! Students will also be completing a current event from one of the local or national news websites. We will then begin our history of Africa unit. Students will be learning about colonialism, nationalism, and pan nationalism in Africa.

3/11 - 3/15: Students will be learning about the Conflicts that have led to many civil wars within Africa, and have shaped the countries to what they are now. Friday is our STEM walk through and students will be presenting their projects. Africa Geography Test is Tuesday MARCH 19!! Use the quizlet to being studying.
3/4 - 3/8: Students will be learning about the different ethnic and religious groups in Africa. They will be completing a choice board & flip grid video about the ethnic/religious groups.
2/25 - 3/1: Students will be learning about the different environmental issues facing Africa. We will brainstorm possible solutions, create t-shirts to raise awareness of these issues, and read an article about a 7th grader across the nation who came up with her own solution for Africa's issues. The environmental issues quiz will be on Friday! Study the quizlet here.
2/11 - 2/15: This week students will be focusing on the physical features of Africa: specifically the different biomes.
They will begin their STEM project- learning about what is available in the different biomes, and if their cricket from science class could survive.

1/22 - 1/25: Student will be presenting their entrepreneur shark tank projects! We will also do a lesson on currency and exchange rates. They will begin their study guides for the Economics Test Wednesday, January 30.

1/14- 1/18: Students will be learning about entrepreneurship. They will understand the role of an entrepreneur, and what risks they take to start their own business. On Tuesday we will have a guest speaker (an entrepreneur) come speak to them about his story, and he started a successful business. They will then begin their project "Shark Tank" where they will be creating their own good or service and try to pitch it to us "the sharks"! Projects are due Tuesday, 1/22.
1/7 - 1/11: Happy New Year! Looking forward to a great fresh start to the school year. This week we will be wrapping up trade and economic systems of the Middle East. Students will collect information from classmates economic posters on Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. We will also be reading an article and answering questions about trade and specialization. Students need to be studying for their TRADE VOCAB QUIZ THURSDAY! Use the quizlet to study. We will finish the week off with a class activity on economic systems.
